My First Thrifting Experience

My First Thrifting Experience

Who doesn't love shopping, especially when it comes to shopping for clothes? Now I must admit, I am not the type that likes to shop at multiple stores at once to find an outfit. Not to mention, I hate fishing for items - I can't stand it! I like to plan out my shopping accordingly. Typically, I shop at stores where I know I don't have a problem with the quality of clothes and I know I will not have any issues with sizing. I have God-given curves, baby!

I HATE SHOPPING ONLINE FOR CLOTHES!

Okay, I know I am not the only one who feels like this. Growing up, my mom always had me try on clothes before buying them. To this day, I still do the same. I understand that online stores and boutiques are thriving right now, but honey the way my body is built... I need to try on everything! I am no size 2, 4 or 6 with B or C cup breasts. Don't get me wrong, I love my body, but I don't have the time to invest in clothing from online stores knowing that I am taking a gamble of buying clothes that either work or I will have to return. I just don't have the time to do all of that.

I've always wanted to try thrifting, but I never knew how to... thrift.

Last weekend, I attended a thrift tour, hosted by Meyhgin Harrington from Meeting With Megs. When I saw that she was hosting a thrift tour, I instantly knew that I was going to be in attendance. Why? Because she is super sweet, freaking amazing and her style is bomb.com! I knew with her guidance; I was going to execute my first thrift store shopping experience. Plus, since I am tapping more into fashion blogging, my investment in pieces is going to cause me to increase my budget.

The event was held at Buffalo Exchange, located in the Poncey Highlands in Atlanta. Buffalo Exchange carries a lot of trendy, name-branded merchandise. With mimosas, chicken, and waffles on deck, I was ready to shop. Megs made my thrifting experience such an enjoyable one. One of my goals for 2018 is to break away from my comfort zone of clothes and to explore more with items that don't cover up my body as much. Let me keep it real for one second - all of my life, I was subconscious about my body so covering it up has always been a norm for me. As I approach 37 this year, I am determined to break out and take more fashion risks.

I am super excited about the items I purchased. I am even more excited to wear and be free with my style, knowing that I did not spend an arm and a leg on my items.

Let's take a look shall we...

I don't even think this jacket was ever worn. I plan to add some cool buttons on it and wearing it with a dress.

Now that I finally got a taste of the thrift life, I am excited to explore more thrift stores and share my fashions with you and be a more fashionable version of Jennifer. I want to thank Megs for hosting a great event and assisting me with picking out some great items for my first thrifting experience. I am looking forward to the next one.

One last thing.

To follow up on my post about using what you got to get what you want for blogging. With the pieces I purchased, I can mix and match with the clothes I have at home to create cute outfits. Let's keep it going!

Be great and be amazing!
